Fashion, for me, has always been an outlet for expression. It's my way of release. Over the years, my love for it has grown exponentially but not just for the trends, but because of how I wanted to express who I was. I believe fashion is limitless and it's disrespectful to put it in a box. It's an art and we're a blank canvas. We all were created uniquely in our own individual ways so why not let that shine through our wardrobe?
“You’re a one of a kind, your fashion should be too”
Too many times I find people succumbing to what society says is normal about fashion and what goes with what. To tell you the truth, half of those folks don't even know what fashion really is. As a fashion connoisseur and detail advocate, I'm here to show you what fashion can mean to you and for you. My passion for empowering and inspiring women is to help them unleash their power in fashion. To shed light on their remarkable features through what they wear and allow them to become their most stylish selves, effortlessly.

“It’s time to be done with the ‘coming soon’, and it’s time to just arrive”
I recently came across something dope Catherine Soliz-Rey (@fiercecatherine) stated about ‘just arriving’. A lot of times, we get these amazing God-given dreams and ideas for businesses, organizations or even school and we hype it up and hype it up to never actually arrive. I’m sharing this with you, babe, because it’s a new year, a new quarter and it’s time to be done with the ‘coming soon’, and it’s time to just arrive. Deliver what you have been given & craving to create and share it with the world because we are waiting for it...we need what you have.
“Are you truly committed or are you just interested?”
My best friend, Kiyrah (@zakiyrah), consistently shares the difference between being interested versus committed. Clearly, a lot of gems have been dropping lately! I mention this because as we go into the new year and before you hype anything up, I want to know are you truly committed to that thing or those things or are you just interested? What is the difference you ask? Being interested is like having a hobby. It makes you feel good when you do it and may keep you busy but when things begin to go left or crumble or when it becomes uncomfortable, you’re good on it.
There is no comfort in commitment. Commitment entails and requires sacrifice, determination, resilience, ups and downs, good and bad & faith. Commitment is pushing through even when you’re not sure you will make it through but you just have to take that chance because you’re committed.
This year I am excited to announce Styling With Megs, a wardrobe and fashion styling service under my brand! I believe this is my year to glow up and arrive with all the things I’m passionate for that align with my vision to empower, inspire and uplift women. But you know what babe? Just like you, I had to ask myself, am I interested or committed? So instead of allowing myself to dwell on the thought, I gave it to God and prayed about it. I believe all the creative things I have been given are God-given, He gave it to me so I gave it back. I had to truly accept all that being committed came with and now I’m ready more than ever.
This is your damn year. But you are the only one to change that. You have the power to make this year more than anything you’ve ever dreamt. It first comes with trusting God for doors to already be opened and closed for you, that the right people are already in place. Stop investing so much of your time in attending various networking events believing that your own efforts will solidify the relationship you need to get to where you're trying to go or to bridge the gap to cross over. Know that God already has divine connections in place just for you and will provide you with all the tools you need to execute the dream you have been given. Realizing this will help you arrive and arrive fiercely.
Cheers to girl bossin’ all year long!
“Some women were made but me, myself, I’d like to think I was created...for a special purpose”
I'm no die hard Beyonce fan but man did she get this right. As women, we constantly face on a day to day basis battles against ourselves to recognize who we truly are. It's important that we recognize that we were created...not made. When I hear the word made, I think of thrown together. I'd like to think that when God created us He did so with delicacy and precision adding a dash of divine and a hint of beautiful. And then there we were...created.
1. a : fictitious, invented b : artificially produced
In today's world, there are so many misguided interpretations of who we are as women through social media platforms, television, and even when we walk outside our doors. Clinging to our receptiveness that we were created allows us to reign in our destined power. That girl power. With so many oppositions that come against us each day, it is your duty to remain determined and stay true to who you were created to be in order to do what you were created to do. As I challenge you to love yourself in the best way, I am challenging myself. In this time of being single, I'll be honest to say I have not made the best effort to care for myself in the best way mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It's more than just loving ourselves the best way we know how because we can do better than that. From this very moment, moving forward, let's challenge each other to elevate to a higher level of self-care + self-love.
bring (something) into existence.
How dare we battle with ourselves when we have been created with such delicacy and precision? Since we have been created versus made we should treat ourselves as such. You are called as worthy, counted for, divine, and brilliant in all your creation and glory. I want to empower you today to remain intact with your divinity and the bold power instilled in you to be and do anything for the betterment of yourself and others, to change the world. When I think of the word create, I think of time, effort, and becoming. Getting to where we should be and becoming all we are intended to be was never meant to be easy but it is so worth it and the first step is recognizing the power in your creation. You are a force.
I believe it's important that women see themselves as art...I'm here to remind them. Like art...you were created to be wondrous, illuminating, exhilarating and powerful. You were never made. You, my darling, were...created.
I don't know about you but I'm trying to live my best life and in what other way would I do that than in style? Satin has become a major staple piece in my closet but has been so hard to rock these past few months due to the scorching Atlanta heat. My favorite seasons are coming up and for this fall and winter, I've got my mind back on satin. My latest shoot consisted of all satin pieces and how I styled them. For me, satin represents a type of grown woman sexy and in this new season of being hella single, I want to be my most confident sexy self-allowing me to feel completely empowered.
I wanted to show you how fun and chic satin could be while still being sexy. Corsets have been my thing too lately and what's sexier than a corset or bustier?! When it comes to my fashion pieces, you may know that I'm definitely into layering and I wanted to manipulate the ways to rock my satin corset with two of my three satin blouses. Layering is essential because you're able to style one particular item a hundred and one different ways.
Babe, I have a secret that I actually want to share with you...you ready? I absolutely adore thrifting and consigning! Time and time again, I constantly get questions about where I get a lot of my fashion pieces and, I have to admit, I'm not your typical department store girl. I love me some Zara or H&M any day, but there is something about the beauty of consignment and thrifting. I've never been afraid to share where I may have purchased my pieces with another person because, frankly, when it comes to consigning you are getting a one of a kind item.
This past weekend, I got the pleasure to partner with my favorite and most dependable PR girl Jasmine Milan of JMPR where I was a guest blogger for the grand opening of Alexis Suitcase 3rd location in Sandy Springs. Alexis Suitcase is a high-end consignment boutique here in Atlanta, Georgia providing the most decadent designer pieces for the most affordable prices in the city. Can you say a fashion dream? This event was nothing short of amazing and fun as we got the opportunity to shop and sift through the goodies this new location had to offer. If you haven't learned the ropes of consignment shopping and thrifting, Alexis Suitcase is the perfect place to get started with endless options...did I mention affordable and designer brands?
Over delicious champagne and great vibes, I sat done with the ladies of Atlanta's new reality television show, WAGS on E!, Ariel, Hope and Sincerely, to discuss what they believed the beauty of consignment was. Collectively, they shared that they believe the beauty of consignment is recycling someone's old to flourish into someones new. Ariel of WAGS said it best, "just because you're done with it doesn't mean it can't work for someone else." Whether they go with the flow of their own stylist or handpicking items, consigning is vital for setting the trend of style in their own way. Aside from WAGS, Hope, who is also Alexis Suitcase's brand ambassador stated, "it's easy to pick out a made ready outfit on a mannequin but why not be unique with consignment pieces?" WAGS' Sincerely put me on game with the consignment lifestyle of Paris, where you can choose items and purchase based on what they weigh! She's no newbie to Alexis Suitcase by the way so she's consistently stylish!
Getting a chance to chat briefly with Leslie, the owner of Alexis Suitcase's, she shared her belief in the beauty of consignment. For her, as a consignment connoisseur, the good energy of one person's treasure can transfer to another. I believe the beauty of consignment goes a long way according to one's journey. Who knows? That blouse you wore when you were proposed to could be the next woman's blouse that she wore for the corporate executive job she's now slaying in. Start to enjoy name brand, designer items for friendly prices at Alexis Suitcase today.
What is the beauty of consignment to you?
Fall is ya girls favorite season by far. Especially in Atlanta, not just for the fact of the beautiful fall leaves that transform and transition into magnificent colors but because of great weather and the flexibility for fashion. Being able to rock a pair of open toe thigh highs with a pair of Bermuda shorts and a sleeveless turtle neck is ideal for me as a perfect outfit for Fall fashion. My primary goal for these looks was to incorporate bright, vibrant colors that still gave Fall feels this season. Don't be shy to still include some bright colors with dark colors and dive into deep tones that resonate well with your beautiful skin.
Too often we get caught up. We get caught up in ourselves and the constant reminders around us or, even in us, that go against and oppose who we truly are. Things or people that claim we're something that we really aren't. So much so, that we began to believe it and lose faith in ourselves.
Too often we miss out on the opportunities and open doors life presents to us because we've lost faith in ourselves. Today, I want to encourage you, I want to challenge you, in whatever season you may be in, to take your faith back. Do something you thought you lost the capability of doing which was believing in yourself. Regardless if you have the tools you need to execute whatever your goals are because the truth is you are equipped with everything you need to do and be all that you want to do and be. I encourage you to be a servant to the purpose of your current situation and trust that God is preparing you for promotion. Maybe you've encountered and endured tough situations that caused you to lose sight of you. News flash babe, it's called life and things can always get or be worse.
“Be a servant to the purpose of your current situation”
Becoming a blogger was never a task of reading constant tutorials or manuals of 'blogging 101.' For me, I knew I had a message that I wanted to share with a specific group of people with a specific purpose and writing was a tool I was not only good at but passionate about. There were moments, however, where I found I was very doubtful, scared, and unclear about who I was and what I had to offer. I began to lose faith in myself and forgot that anything was possible because I didn't emphasize enough on who God was in my life, to me and for me. My moments were dark sometimes and I had a hard time hiding it and comparing myself to others definitely didn't help. Why did I start in the first place? The only way I could pull myself out of this was to remember my why. I always tell you this and I'll tell you again and probably keep telling you as long as it empowers, inspires and uplifts you.
Times can be so tough babe and trusting in God to bring us out can be skeptical but not on His part. We cannot be saved, redeemed or restored without wanting it, without getting in a position to receive it. Just because we are intimidated by our situation does not mean God is. I love the scripture which emphasizes that even when we're faithless in ourselves, situations, and relationships, He isn't. Every time where I have doubted myself and lost faith, I got in a position of desiring what God wanted for me and who He said I was and it never failed me. I'm currently in a 'new beginning' type of season where it may not look so promising but I choose to have faith in myself and in God who says otherwise. Just because it may not look promising, I know my life is in His control, therefore, it is promising. Will you choose to have faith in yourself and believe that anything is possible?
It's something about when you're just flowing and glowing in all of your greatness. Especially when you look back and remember the moments when you use to count your self out and discount your worth. Babe, I cannot tell you how many times I have walked that road, counted the steps and paced back and forth on it. But lately, never have I been more confident, secure and super lit about who I was created to be and the many great things that are in store for me. But even more excited of how I will be used for the empowerment and inspiration of millions of women and to spread my girl power. I think it's important to realize and never forget how awesome and powerful we really are wholly but more so individually.
“Stay connected to who you are...it’s your power”
When I think of the slogan girl power, I automatically associate it with the celebration of women empowerment, independence, encouragement, and confidence. How do you claim your girl power? What do you allow to feed it in order to fuel your wildest dreams and fiercest goals? You've already got the power, girl. The moment the doctor determined your sex and announced you as female was the moment you had the power. It's no issue claiming and gaining your girl power, but let's talk about how to sustain it. Too many things happen in life that cause us to drift from our birthright to our girl power so how do we keep it? Why does it matter?
Why is your girl power important...
I first want to share with you a couple of reasons why I believe your girl power is important. I believe in order to conquer all that we've came for we have to remain connected to our power. Nothing makes us more invincible than claiming our own power and believing in it! It's important because it helps us make our mark on this world and pour out every bit of magic we have within.
To maintain & sustain your girl power...
Is to remember your why and to stay connected to your relevance and to put yourself above everything else. Self-love is the best love and nurturing you allows you to recharge your girl power and nurture others.
I'm so happy to be on this awesome journey with you to this beautiful evolution called womanhood. We have so much ahead of us and so much change to make that only we have the power to do. Stay true to you and your greatness. Cheers to girl power.
It's always important to have that one item in your wardrobe that you can switch up for any occasion.
I've been dying to show you these skater skirt jeans I'm currently crushin' on that I can style in many different ways. Hailing from ASOS, these jeans are edgy, daring, different and my kind of thing. Fashion is all about expressing yourself with the ability to easily transition. It's an art to this thang but once you allow yourself to be expressed through your style is when you've mastered the art of fashion.
Out with The Girls
For a night out with the girls, the first look I paired my trendsetting jeans with a layered fishnet top by Banana Republic that I found as a hidden gem at Buffalo Exchange. I walk it like I talk it in my studded white zipper booties from Missguided that can go with just about anything. Who doesn't love a white pair of boots? To bridge the gap, I rocked my snakeskin oversized clutch. Hot or what?!
Date Night with Honey
This second look was my all time favorite. It was super flirty, colorful, and edgy for the perfect date night. I've been looking for an off the shoulder crossover bodysuit for a while and as usual, Amazon never failed me. I purchased one in white and black. It accentuates the shape of a woman while showing the perfect amount of skin. To get a bit vibrant, I paired this look with my haute couture bag from Aldo that happened to go effortlessly with my fuschia strap heels. If you want to make your look unforgettable, rock a popping lip color like my MAC lipstick in 'Heroine.'
Collecting Coins At The Office
You can't forget the corporate chic look. It's always best collect your coins while looking fly babe. I put the jeans together with an oldie but goodie, my satin striped button down blouse with oversized sleeves from Salvation Army that I featured in my Sexy in Satin Chic blog post. Nothing says HBIC (Head Babe in Charge) like a pair of Balenciaga dupes that I copped from Missguided for a pretty penny. Counting dollars in these babies never looked so good.
I hope you've been inspired to find that one thing in your closet that will tie multiple looks together for you to look your flyest. How many looks will you create?
All things that are precious and worth while take time. It took time for me to arrive to where I am and who I’ve become thus far. Over these last few years, I have gained a deeper relevant understanding that growth is vital as I’ve gone through my growth spurts. I wasn’t always me. It’s funny to hear that but even funnier to say because I’m Meyhgin but, Megs? Oh, well, she evolved when I made the conscious choice to be myself unapologetically.
don’t rush your process babe
I never knew how talented and creative I really was. It’s funny how the things we may see in others and what we long to have or become is what has been there all along. I constantly hear someone shouting that they want to find their passion, become devoted to their purpose failing to realize it’s been gifted to them since day one. I use to be that person. I always knew I was different in certain areas but when I became Megs is when I allowed all of my differences to flourish and bloom like they were meant to.
As I became my creative self, I became more confident, stronger, and even more sure in who I was than ever before. I’m not here to tell you that I have everything together. Nah babe, that’s not me. But I am here to tell you that even in my insecurities, weaknesses, and mistakes, I’m still me and I’m not going anywhere. If there is ever a moment, for a split second, where you wonder where the hell is your place, I want to empower you, for a split second, to claim your place wherever you desire. Your place, position, and purpose in this world does not own you, you own it.
I can say with my growth from Meyhgin to Megs, I have even more substance and quality. My views have become more dynamic and daring. I no longer have the capacity to care what others think about me in an opinionated way however I care about how I allow my gifts to bless and serve others. Meyhgin before Megs was a girl who fantasized of one day becoming a woman. Her dreams weren’t big enough or bold enough. She felt the need to apologize to everyone for what she thought or how she felt or even what she believed. Megs was tired of letting her get away with not being her true unapologetic self so she picked her up, dusted her off and took her hand so the two became one.
Whoever you are in this moment, ask yourself, are you being your true self? Examine and eliminate anything or anyone in your life that hinders you from being your true self. Incorporate things and individuals who charge you with the mission to live every day being yourself. Those dreams and ambitious? Make them reality and go for it. Make the choice today, right now, to be your most unapologetic self.
I think its important to stay true to who you are in whatever moment or season of life you’re in.
I’ve always been weary of shifting. The shift.
But I came to realize that as I grow and evolve so will my content. And that is completely ok. It’s important to stay true to who you are and your brand in spite of the shift because, this way, you will always remain connected to your audience.
The message behind my brand has always been “discussing all things empowering, inspiring and uplifting to and for women” which I focused on a lot of inspirational content with some fashion and beauty here and there. But I’ve evolved since I started and I am, and always have been, passionate about fashion. I got doubtful when I thought I could not create content and still empower, inspire and uplift women with fashion because I was shifting from what I started with. Like “am I still making an impact in the lives of others through fashion?” Hell yeah I am! Stop doubting your impact and believe in your vision and message.
I think someone should become weary, doubtful and scared when they don’t shift because that means you’re not growing. My message is still the same but now I can empower, inspire and uplift women through the outlet of fashion. The message has always been the same, the view just changed. I want to encourage you to get comfortable with shifting…growing. Don’t be afraid to change things around with your brand as long as you stay connected to who you are and what your message is. Seek to always impact a life, not a million. As multi-faceted, gifted beings, it would be a disservice to others and God to stay one dimensional, so, shift.
With my shift, I’m excited to bring you all some very exciting projects and content very soon and hope it fulfills its purpose. May you always remain empowered, inspired and uplifted through my content.
Thanks for meeting with me
To be honest, lately, I’ve found myself falling in love with looks that I just can’t afford. And as I sit here, in my creative space, I began to get a surge of creative energy and this self-willingness and drive to simply...create.
I adore the creative, profound minds that pour so much of themselves into creating art which turn into fashion pieces that make bold statements. My efforts to create my own looks are driven by this inspiration. I find myself feeling empowered and that I can truly do all things when I actually create pieces that make me look and feel like the flyest girl in any room.
This blog post is brought to you by denim. I’m featuring two denim pieces that I created with much inspiration from one of my favorite Instagram fashion accounts. In honor of NYFW around the corner, I wanted to get a little daring with these pieces, make a statement and stand out per usual. Of course, I used all thrifted items to create these pieces and I must say it makes me feel even more of my own individual because they are my one of a kind pieces.
Oriental Express boyfriend jeans
Thanks to Goodwill and a previously friendly BONGO jeans owner, I was able to create this look while using a pair of oriental print culotte pants that I copped from Buffalo Exchange during my seasonal thrift tour. While using a pair of fabric scissors, fabric glue, and much patience, I simply cut the seams of the culotte pants, aligned them against my jeans for measurement, adjusted, then glued them on. I wanted to make sure the print wasn’t too consistent because, for me, consistency in fashion means boring. Therefore I glued smaller pieces of the pant fabric inside out giving a color contrast. I used a majority of my 1 bottle of fabric glue and allowed them to dry, honestly, for a week. This is because I needed assurance they were completely dry since I also wanted to distress them for an unorthodox look. And getting them wet for washing frightened me but it all worked in my favor & behold, a lady in a pair of bomb jeans.
“consistency in fashion means boring”
Comme Follow Me tulle denim skirt
Also, featured on the vintage point was this dope denim skirt accompanied with one of my all-time favorite fabrics. Little did I know that this piece was originally created by the mastermind Junya Watanabe, the protege of Comme des Garçons. I changed my piece by adding a larger portion of leftover denim, from when I cut the legs of what use to be a pair of Lee jeans, to the front split inside out for contrast. Clearly, I have a thing with contrast.
To create the skirt, I tried on the jeans and marked how long I wanted the skirt to be. Cut that leg at that mark and aligned it with the other leg for proper measurement and evenness. I preceded to cut at the seams all up and through the crotch area, using the same fabric glue, glued the two sides together leaving a too wide ‘you can see my goodies’ split that I later filled by adding that larger portion of leftover denim I mentioned earlier. For temporary purposes, I gathered and bunched my desired amount of black tulle and safety pinned it to the back split creating a tail that you can’t help but follow. I’ll soon be actually sewing the material down for longevity and proper wear.
What do you all think about my looks? Take a closer look at them on my upcoming stylist lookbook video on my YouTube channel, show love & subscribe.
Stay fly & individual babes
